Terms of use

Effective date: 3 November 2026 · Last updated: 3 November 2026

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply to your use of RateDay at ratebyday.com, a website run by an individual based in the United States ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.

2. What RateDay is

RateDay is a free tool that converts amounts between currencies using the European Central Bank's euro foreign exchange reference rates. We don't provide payment, money transfer or currency exchange services, and we are not a bank or a regulated financial firm.

3. Information, not advice

Everything on the site is general information. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and it is not an offer to buy or sell currency at any rate. The rate you get from a bank or provider will usually be different. Check their quote before you make a decision, and get professional advice if you need it.

4. Accuracy and availability

We show rates as published by the European Central Bank and delivered by a third-party service. We take care to display them correctly, but we can't guarantee that they are complete, current or free of errors. Reference rates are published once per working day, so they will not match live market prices.

We may change, suspend or stop the site, or any part of it, at any time. We aim to keep it available but don't promise that it will always work without interruption.

5. Acceptable use

You may use RateDay for personal use and for your organisation's internal use. You must not:

  • use automated tools to request pages at a volume that slows the site down for others;
  • try to gain unauthorised access to the site or the systems it runs on;
  • copy the site's design, text or logo to present a service as ours, or as connected to us when it is not;
  • use the site for anything unlawful.

If you need rates in your own software, use the European Central Bank's published data or the Frankfurter service directly.

6. Intellectual property

The RateDay name, logo, design and written content belong to the owner of RateDay. You may link to any page on the site.

Exchange rate data comes from the European Central Bank. If you reuse it, follow the ECB's terms and credit the ECB as the source.

7. Links to other sites

We link to other websites, such as the European Central Bank, for your information. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or how they handle your information.

8. Our liability

The site is provided free of charge and "as is". To the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties about it, including that it will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose.

We are not liable for any loss arising from a decision you make based on information on the site, including losses from exchanging money at a rate different from the one shown. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything relating to the site is limited to US$100.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you use the site as a consumer, you keep any rights that consumer law gives you.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The new version applies from the date shown at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where RateDay's owner lives, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled by the state or federal courts there. If you live elsewhere as a consumer, you may also be able to bring a claim in your local courts.

11. Contact
